Aloha! Thank you for stopping by. My name is Luana Kawaʻa. I am a native Hawaiian wife, mother, grandmother, and educator. I have four amazing adult children, two hānai children who chose me as their mom, and two adorable granddaughters. I married my high school sweetheart, Llewellyn, and we live in Paukūkalo on the beautiful island of Maui.

I have been teaching Hawaiian language and culture for 30 years. Hula has been part of my life since the age of 6. In 1995, I started my journey as a Kumu Hula (Master Hula Instructor) and completed the traditional ʻūniki process to become a Kumu Hula under Hōkūlani Holt.

I am passionate about teaching and sharing Hawaiian language, culture, and values in a positive and inclusive learning environment. The online and virtual classes I’ve created make learning accessible to all.
